Investment Management - Private Alternatives MSIM is growing profitably by scaling Alternative Businesses. The Private Alternative Technology Team is investing through Project Horizon to enable scalable growth and efficiencies. This role will be assigned to Private Alternatives Operations and IM Finance technology initiatives, providing technology coverage to Operations, Hedging BU/Capital Markets, Fund Admin Streamlining, Finance, and Firm Risk to implement the target operating model aligned with Project Horizon. The role is a combination of Senior Developer/Architect and BU-facing coordination to support time-sensitive activities in the NY time zone, including Hedge Trade bookings and GL Bookings, and to manage technology changes during NY hours during critical times. What You’ll Do In The Role Design and Architect Large-Scale Enterprise Applications: Lead the design and architecture of complex enterprise applications tailored for the financial industry, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. Develop Distributed and Asynchronous Applications: Oversee the development of distributed and asynchronous applications, leveraging modern technologies and best practices to ensure seamless operation and integration. Implement Micro-Services Based Architecture: Utilize Micro-Services based architecture to create modular, flexible, and scalable applications deployed on public and private cloud infrastructures. Lead Development Team: Provide technical leadership and mentorship, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment with hands-on experience across technology stacks, UI frameworks, and DevOps/CI/CD tools. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with product management, operations, and quality assurance for seamless integration and successful project delivery. Ensure Compliance with Financial Industry Regulations: Stay up-to-date with applicable regulations and standards to ensure compliance of applications and systems. Develop and Maintain Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive architecture and development documentation. Work on Multiple Divisional Level POCs: Lead divisional Proofs of Concepts using GenAI and Agentic AI to explore innovative solutions. Evaluate New Tools and Frameworks: Assess new tools and technologies and provide adoption recommendations. What You’ll Bring To The Role Extensive Experience in Financial Industry: Designing and architecting large-scale enterprise applications for Private Alternatives and Investment Management. Strong Background in Distributed and Asynchronous Application Development: High availability and fault tolerance. Proficiency in Micro-Services Based Architecture: Modular and scalable applications. Core Programming Skills: Java, Scala, Python; writing clean, maintainable code. Exposure to Cloud Services: Databricks, Snowflake, Azure, Kubernetes. Experience with APIs and API Management: Integration and communication between systems. Hands-On with Modern UI Frameworks and DevOps/CI/CD Tools. In-Depth Knowledge of Programming Frameworks: Spring Boot, Apache Spark. Familiarity with Workflow Tools: n8n, Camunda, or UIPath desired. Advanced SQL Skills: Data manipulation and querying. Experience with Containerization and Orchestration: Docker and Kubernetes. Security and Access Management: OAuth, OIDC, Key Vaults knowledge. Familiarity with OpenAPI: API design and documentation. Familiarity with Gen AI and Agentic AI: AI-enabled solutions including RAG, Vector DB, OpenAI Integrations, AI Agents, and related tooling. Experience with Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate: Preferably in asset classes. FX Hedging and Carried Interests Calculations: Financial management and reporting. Excellent Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills; Strong Leadership and Communication. Education And Experience Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 5-8 years of experience in application architecture and full stack development within the financial industry. Proven track record of leading development teams and delivering high-quality software solutions.
