Job Description Ensure that the Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) and Fire and Gas (F&G) design requirements for Alaska Capital Projects are met, and that the design is in accordance with AK BU Specifications and in compliance with regulatory and Company standards. Guide the design through the engineering phases of projects to ensure safety in design and operability.
Primary Responsibilities
Understand the project schedule and key milestones for assigned projects in order to provide technical assistance at appropriate time.
Support the established single concept as the project progresses through subsequent project phases.
Regulatory and Company compliance
Technical guidance and day-to-day contact with I&C discipline engineering contractor
Guide the development of the I&C and F&G design premises to ensure safety in design, operability and inclusion of commonality and synergies of existing facilities modifications and new facilities and associated modifications
Work collaboratively with AK BU Technical Authorities to ensure adherence to AK BU Specifications and compliance with regulatory and Company standards.
Review engineering drawings and relevant calculations and documents prepared by the engineering contractor as needed
Provide advice and input to Facility Development Engineer (FDE) to support the single concept decision.
Frame specifications and criteria deviations and seek TA approval on behalf of the project
Accept engineering deliverables
Participates in the development of operation, maintenance, and start-up philosophies
Review Management of Change documentation
Work collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure inter-discipline coherence and experience transfer
Provide engineering support and data of existing facilities to engineering contractor.
Participate in the project risk management process
Participate in the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
Provide input to procurement process and evaluate quotes for instrumentation, basic process control system, safety instrumented systems, F&G, electrical equipment/components and major equipment as needed
Participate in relevant Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
Secondary Responsibilities
Participate in AK BU I&C and F&G Engineering collaboration activities, including monthly collaboration meetings, and training and development activities
Participate in Knowledge Sharing throughout the BU and company via NoE participation
Stay abreast of opportunities around the company and industry that may be leveraging for developments.
Required Skills And Experience
BS Degree in Engineering
Professional Engineer License in Alaska (preferred)
Third party certification of SIS competency (preferred)
5+ years I&C and F&G design experience in the oil and gas industry
In depth knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards including ISA S84; IEEE, ISA, UL, NEMA, and ANSI standards; and NFPA 72
