MS Assistantship: Amphibian Acoustics and Invasion Ecology, Utah State University

We are seeking a motivated and qualified student to pursue an M.S. degree at Utah State University, focusing on the acoustics of an invasive frog species in Hawaii. The position involves both fieldwork and laboratory experiments in Hawaii. An annual stipend of $23,600 for two years, and partial health insurance will be covered. Students would be expected to start by either January 2026 or August 2026. Please indicate if you can start in January. Required credentials include a B.S. in biology, wildlife, ecology, natural resource conservation, or a related field; strong quantitative skills; demonstrated writing ability; and competitive GPA and GRE scores. GRE scores are optional if there is other strong, relevant experiences described in the application. Competitive candidates will have: (a) strong field and/or laboratory experience related to the project; (b) ability to work independently; (d) evidence of success in previous research projects; (e) experience in acoustics, amphibian field data, animal husbandry, R, and island fieldwork is advantageous. Bat Specialist (NPS, Mojave Desert Network Inventory and Monitoring Program)

The Research Associate Program at GBI, in cooperation with NPS Mojave Desert Network, is recruiting one Bat Specialist to lead the network bat monitoring plan for 2026. Field work is primary; office work optional. Regular overnight travel and camping required. Field work across MOJN parks includes acoustic surveys and capture surveys for bats, including identifying bats to species, age, sex, and reproductive status and swabbing for WNS. Timeline and location: works across MOJN parks, with field lead responsibilities and coordination with an intern partner. Compensation and housing details are provided in the full posting. Primary responsibilities include leading bat monitoring plans, deploying detectors, conducting capture surveys, data QA/QC, and coordinating with MOJN staff and park staff. Timeline: January 2026 – September 2026, 36 weeks; full-time; schedule may include extended hitches and overtime. Location: based at Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Boulder City, NV, with travel to MOJN parks as needed. Qualifications emphasize strong field experience, ability to hike long distances, ability to drive and operate 4WD vehicles, and ability to communicate with volunteers and park staff. Preferred experience includes NABat protocols, acoustic detectors, and desert fieldwork familiarity. Wildlife Rehabilitation Turtle Care Intern – Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota

WRCMN offers Turtle Care Internships (unpaid) with May–October seasons and flexible start/end dates. Applicants must be 18+. Interns gain hands-on experience with wild turtles and may assist with feeding, cleaning, admissions, and animal care tasks. Commitment and physical ability to lift 30 lbs and work 4+ hours, with shifts 12pm–6pm, are required. Housing is not provided. See details in the web posting. Perform scientific, technical, and maintenance duties at hatchery facilities and trap sites; include fish culture, data collection, and equipment maintenance. What to Expect: Perform fish culture duties (feeding, health monitoring, therapeutics), record keeping (DMR, data entry), facility and equipment maintenance (water flow, generators, etc.), safety compliance, and public interactions. Qualifications: varies by level; requires valid driver's license; some positions require a combination of education and experience. In-training options allow progression from Hatchery Specialist 1 to 2 after a 12-month program. Preferred candidates may hold degrees in fisheries or biology and have related hatchery experience.
