The role focuses on in-store pastry expertise, delivering hands-on classes, and supporting sales and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience & Brand Representation: Represent Sur La Table’s brand by creating memorable, educational experiences that inspire repeat visits and customer loyalty.

Deliver in-store pastry and baking classes that reflect Sur La Table’s passion for food and high standards, following provided recipes and plans to ensure consistency and quality.

Communicate technical pastry concepts and advanced skills clearly, encouraging learning.

Maintain expertise by staying current on products and actively engaging in available training.

Sales & Business Performance: Drive sales by upholding kitchen standards, encouraging class sign-ups, and promoting retail items used in class.

Deliver class revenue goals through high enrollment, positive reviews, and guest return rates.

Meet or exceed program goals by delivering exceptional classes that drive engagement and sales, with performance measured by KPIs such as second-class sign-ups, retail sales, and Google reviews.

Team Engagement & Store Support: Assist in class setup and breakdown, organize mise en place, prep ingredients, and clean workstations; restock and maintain kitchen supplies.

Operations & Compliance: Ensure food safety and sanitation compliance; handle tools and equipment safely; maintain inventory, minimize shrink, and control expenses; may handle liquor/wine/beer per regulations; ensure store safety and cleanliness; adhere to wage/hour laws and SLT policies.

Physical & Availability Requirements: Communicate effectively, stand for extended periods, move around the store, demonstrate techniques, lift up to 50 lbs, operate POS systems, and maintain a flexible schedule (12-16 hours/week, including nights, weekends, holidays) with regular attendance and adaptability to demand.

Qualifications & Experience

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Degree in culinary arts preferred; extensive culinary experience and demonstrated proficiency may be considered in lieu of formal education.

1-2 years of kitchen operations experience.

Valid Food Manager Certification.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.

$19 - $20.21 an hour
