Overview

The Multimodal Imaging Genetics Lab at Barrow Neuro Analytics Center is seeking a motivated Research Scientist to join our dynamic team. Our lab integrates imaging genomics and computational methods to study how vascular dysfunction contributes to neurodegeneration and brain aging in complex diseases. The ideal candidate will have expertise in population genetics, genome-wide association studies (GWAS), and/or single-cell genomics to drive discovery and translational research. We seek a self-driven, innovative individual with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and exceptional communication skills. Responsibilities

Design, execute, and analyze large-scale genetic studies including GWAS, polygenic risk scoring, and population genetic analyses. Integrate multi-omics data, including single-cell transcriptomics, to elucidate disease mechanisms and identify therapeutic targets. Develop and apply statistical genetics and bioinformatics methods to interpret complex genetic datasets. Develops and establishes data analysis pipelines. Prepare scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations for internal and external audiences. Serves as a liaison for the training of technical personnel in the translational program including post-doctoral fellows, graduate, and undergraduate students. Stay current with advances in genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics, and single-cell technologies. Qualifications

Demonstrated experience with GWAS data analysis, population genetics, or single-cell genomics. Strong understanding of complex disease genetics and population structure. Prior work in complex disease genetics research, including analysis of large cohorts or biobank-scale datasets. Experience with pathway analysis, polygenic risk scores, or Mendelian randomization is a plus. Publication record in peer-reviewed journals related to human genetics or genomics. Education

Ph.D. in Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistical Genetics, or related field Special Skills

Proficiency in programming with R, Unix/Linux, and/or Python. Experience with genetic analysis tools (e.g., PLINK, GCTA, METAL). Experience with high-performance computing environments. Working knowledge of machine learning (AI/ML) algorithms and their applications in bioinformatics. Pay Range
