Position Description The Economics Department at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina invites applications and nominations for an open rank tenure-track faculty position in economics to begin August 16, 2026. All faculty searches are subject to the availability of funding.

Required Education and Experience

The position requires a doctoral degree in economics or closely related field by the start date of employment.

Candidates at the Associate Professor level must have at least 6 years of academic and/or industry experience by the start date of employment, a record of high-impact research, and demonstrated excellence in teaching.

Candidates at the Professor level must also have a consistent career of impactful academic publications, and possess a demonstrated national or international reputation in their field of economics. Applicants hired at the full professor level will be considered for an open endowed chair in economics.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in advanced quantitative methods, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, or related topics, or have demonstrated experience studying economic impact of AI, its policy implications, and its broader societal effects.
