POSTING PERIOD September 17, 2025 until filled POSITION School Psychologist (10-Months) Certification Requirements Specialists or higher degree with a major in school psychology or Master’s Degree or higher with sixty (60) semester hours of graduate credit in school psychology. Hold or be eligible for certification by the State of Florida as School Psychologist. Successful experience as a school psychologist preferred. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Knowledge of child growth and development; tests and measurement theory and foundations; and of community resources and services available for student assistance. Ability to conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations of students; to verbally communicate and consult effectively with parents, school personnel, and the public; to communicate results of evaluation findings in written reports and correspondence; to assist students, parents, and school personnel in the resolution of problems in student learning, behavior and mental health; and ability to interact successfully with parents, school personnel, and administrators. Skills in communicating effectively, both in written and oral contexts. Skill and ability to apply and interpret federal, state, and local laws and policies governing the provision of educational services to students with disabilities. Knowledge of laws and rules relating to education and other services for persons with disabilities. REPORTS TO Director, Exceptional Student Education SUPERVISES N/A JOB GOAL To improve the academic achievement, behavioral / social skills, and emotional well-being of all students through either direct contact with students or through testing and consultations with other professionals. PLANNING / PREPARATION (01) Participate in needs assessment activities, planning and development of interventions, programs, and/or service to students. (02) Participate in Child Study, Eligibility, and IEP committees to help meet the needs of identified students. (03) Establish long and short range plans designed specifically to support the District Exceptional Student Educational Plan. (04) Select, develop, or modify psychological assessment materials which identify learning needs of students with diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs. (05) Plan and prepare intervention strategies for parents and teachers that are effective and contribute to a climate where students become engaged in meaningful learning experiences. (06) Assist in preparing or changing curriculum needs and continuous growth. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (07) Maintain and prepare periodic records as required. (08) Implement and coordinate School-wide and District-wide psychological services and activities. (09) Manage time efficiently. (10) Use appropriate intervention and integration of services techniques. (11) Manage materials and equipment effectively. ASSESSMENT MANAGEMENT (12) Assist in early identification of students’ school-related problems. (13) Conduct valid psychological and psycho-educational assessments according to professional standards. (14) Analyze and interpret information to make diagnoses and recommendations regarding needs for services. (15) Seek out new data sources which will provide evidence of student growth and/or the identification of developmental needs. Share these findings with principals and other instructional leaders INTERVENTION / DIRECT SERVICES (16) Suggest realistic and effective intervention strategies for teachers to use with students. (17) Work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, community agencies and staff. (18) Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of a broad curriculum base. (19) Use a variety of instructional strategies to formulate recommendations appropriate for students from diverse backgrounds with different learning styles and special needs. (20) Design techniques and strategies to enhance the application of critical, creative and evaluative thinking capabilities of students. (21) Specialize in recognizing overt indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate intervention, referral, or reporting actions. (22) Provide direct observation and/or crises intervention as necessary and/or requested. TECHNOLOGY (23) Use appropriate technology in delivery of psychological services. (24) Use technology to enhance student learning. (25) Utilize technology to gather and share information with parents, teachers and students. (26) Access technology in order to analyze student psycho-educational data. (27) Use technology for direct student assessment. (28) Use technology to review student assessment data. (29) Use technology for administrative tasks. COLLABORATION (30) Use effective consultative behaviors. (31) Interpret educational policies, programs, and procedures related to psychological services. (32) Enlist the cooperation of parents in examining the family situation and together assess the strengths and problem areas. (33) Interpret educational policies, programs, and procedures related to psychological services. (44) Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with other professionals, students, parents and community service agencies. STAFF DEVELOPMENT (35) Conduct in-service training for faculty and staff. (36) Demonstrate professional growth. (37) Assist others in acquiring knowledge and understanding of particular areas of responsibility. (38) Periodically conduct a personal assessment to determine professional growth needs with reference to the specific instructional assignment and district programs. (39) Participate in district sponsored staff development programs. (40) Manage within an organizational context a personal professional development program by setting specific goals and timetables PARENTAL INPUT (41) Provide follow-up conferences with parents and teachers to interpret and develop alternative instructional strategies for students with special needs. (42) Consult with parents, other school staff, and teachers about ways to facilitate the learning and adjustment of students. Professional Responsibilities (43) Act in a professional and ethical manner and adhere to the Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession at all times. (44) Perform and fulfill professional responsibilities. (45) Support district and local school improvement initiatives, services and programs. (46) Contribute to the overall district and school mission by supporting various school committees and services such as PTO, School Advisory Committee, student activities, and accreditation. (47) Share experience and new learning by mentoring new colleagues. (48) Uphold the best interest of students, staff, and community in support of the District’s Mission Statement. (49) Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position. INTERIM STUDENT GROWTH (50) Conduct psychological work services program in a manner which ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area and/or student program classification. (Student growth must be measured by State assessments required under 1008.22 F.S. and by local assessments for subjects and grade levels not measured by the State assessment program.) Physical Requirements Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District. EVALUATION Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
