Overview
Assistant Principal - Secondary at Cleburne ISD. Reports to the Principal. Exempt position with Admin 3 pay grade; 207 days. Date revised: 10/06/2025. Responsibilities
Assist the school principal in the overall administration of the instructional program and campus level operations. Coordinate assigned student activities and services. Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs. Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs and pilot such efforts when appropriate. Promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process. Promote a positive, caring climate for learning. Communicate effectively with students and staff. Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds. Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members. Help the principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators. Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences. Assist in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff. Serve as second appraiser for the designated teacher appraisal system. Supervise operations in the principal’s absence. Assist with daily school activities such as class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules. Supervise attendance reporting and collaborate on follow-up investigations. Assist in compiling annual budget requests based on documented program needs. Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; check inventory; maintain records; and verify receipts. Assist with safety inspections and safety-drill practice activities. Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services. Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and board policy. Ensure students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods. Help develop a student discipline management system that promotes positive behavior and equitable enforcement of school rules. Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers on student and school issues. Participate in professional development to improve skills related to the job assignment. Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support. Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement. Qualifications
Education/Certification: Master’s degree; Texas assistant principal or other appropriate Texas certificate. Special Knowledge/Skills: Thorough understanding of school operations; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate campus support operations. Experience: Two years’ experience as a classroom teacher. Supervisory Responsibilities
Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with the school principal. Supervise teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned. Working Conditions
