Overview The Senior Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting and servicing new business for an assigned group of agencies in the Midwest. Maintains effective relationships with agency contacts to gather accurate information for risk evaluation and provides consultation on company products and coverage capabilities to positively impact risk selection. Enables profitable growth with assigned agencies, including periodic profitability reviews and implementing profit improvement actions. Upholds the standards of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values.
The salary range for this role is $72k-120K, applicable for jobs in Illinois. Base pay may vary depending on education, experience, skills, location, travel, and performance metrics. This range may be updated in the future.
Responsibilities
Make underwriting decisions efficiently based on review and analysis of agent submissions, ensuring policy characteristics align with company guidelines.
Collaborate with team members, sales, and management to assess risks and retain business.
Develop and maintain strong agency relationships, working with Underwriters, Sales, and Management to meet territory goals.
Support and coach the underwriting team, providing leadership on multiple products for quick risk decisions.
Occasionally participate in industry events and travel to meet with agencies as needed.
Maintain expertise in product lines and industry changes.
Perform other tasks and projects as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
5+ years of experience in commercial lines multiline underwriting.
Expertise in workers' compensation underwriting.
Knowledge of property and casualty underwriting procedures.
Understanding of commercial lines products, coverages, and pricing.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills.
