Overview
Store Protection Specialist at Ross Stores, Inc. This role provides a visible presence at store entrances/exits, mitigates theft and fraud, and maintains a safe and secure environment for associates and customers. The Specialist engages with customers and associates to deter theft and supports loss prevention directives as part of Store Leadership. Responsibilities
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environment
Understands that safety is the priority and practices safe behaviors to maintain a secure environment for both associates and customers. Provides visible presence, greetings with eye contact, and monitors for potential safety issues in store attire as required. Removes clutter and ensures safe egress to emergency exits. Developing Great Teams & Partnerships
Provides excellent customer service by greeting customers, making eye contact, and answering questions in a courteous manner. Treats all customers and associates with respect. Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; participates in recognition programs as applicable. Works with internal and external partners; may include conference calls, district meetings, educating associates, and providing recognition. Supports loss prevention initiatives; performs other duties as assigned. Personal and Store Brand
Represents and supports the company brand at all times. Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with dress code. Mitigating Theft and Fraud
Monitors entrances/exits and sales floor for potential theft by identifying suspicious behavior. Gathers theft indicators and communicates findings to Store Leadership and Loss Prevention. Adheres to company policy for external theft response. Executes best practices to maximize productivity while minimizing steps and touches. Minimizing Operational Shortage
Increases store awareness of processes to minimize shortage and educates associates on shortage reduction initiatives. Observes and validates proper checkout procedures for customers and associates. Competencies

High School education or equivalent required; AA degree preferred. One year retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred. One year loss prevention/security training preferred. Active Security Guard License preferred. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team. Excellent customer service skills. Proven ability to effectively resolve conflict. Must comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulations for security positions, including background screening, physical examination, fingerprinting, and/or drug and alcohol testing as required. Physical Requirements
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance. Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time. Must be able to raise or lower objects more than 25 lbs and perform bending, stooping, or crouching as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities
