Responsibilities

Perform moderately complex accounting analysis and reporting of financial transactions in accordance with US GAAP, UK GAAP, IFRS, and Statutory standards, including reconciling accounts and identifying discrepancies with recommendations for corrective action. Prepare, record, analyze, and report moderately complex accounting transactions; ensure integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and policy compliance. Prepare and distribute periodic financial statements for governmental and regulatory agencies. Research potential impacts of changes to accounting rules proposed by standards setters. Assist with planning strategies to enhance the Company’s financial position; contribute to implementation of policies and procedures to improve operations, controls, and efficiency. Provide information for external and internal audits to ensure compliance. Assist with tax notices and requests, prepare workpapers, and support the company’s tax position. Develop and communicate new policies and processes to comply with newly issued accounting standards (GAAP, Statutory, Tax). Mentor less experienced team members; maintain data integrity in accounting and planning systems. Analyze financial data, identify issues/variances, provide actionable recommendations, and prepare related reports with business partners. Lead special studies and projects; demonstrate ability to produce results with minimal supervision. Partner with business management to provide accounting, tax, or financial solutions that deliver business value. Communicate issues and proactively recommend effective resolutions; present to management. Maintain strong knowledge of Unum’s products, services, and business processes relevant to the role. Job Specifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree a plus. Comparable work experience considered. CPA preferred or CPA-eligible with progress toward CPA certification. 3+ years of accounting experience or equivalent. Solid knowledge of financial accounting, managerial accounting, taxation, and financial reporting; proficiency with GAAP and current accounting policies. Strong understanding of components of multiple financial statements and their interrelations. Experience navigating change positively; strong customer service and cross-functional collaboration. Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; ability to work with all levels of management. Ability to link business processes and drivers to financial results and trends. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; proficiency in general ledger systems; Word and PowerPoint proficiency. Base salary range: $63,500.00 - $120,000.00. Actual pay is based on skill, location, and experience. Benefits include health, vision, dental, disability, incentive plans, PTO, and a 401(k) plan with employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution.
