Jacobs is seeking Staff Archaeologists to support a variety of projects in Northern California. This position provides cultural resources support for planning, engineering, and construction services to commercial clients. We offer flexible hours and benefits, and this position is available as either depending on candidate availability and organizational needs.

Your impact
Support cultural resources work for planning, engineering, and construction projects in Northern California.
Work on projects that require compliance with NHPA, ARPA, NEPA, NAGPRA, and state regulations under the guidance of senior cultural resources staff.
Travel frequently; be able to work 8- to 10-hour days in various conditions and be prepared for trips away from the office.
Responsibilities
Prepare and support compliance with historic preservation laws and policies (NEPA, NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, California regulations) as part of consulting projects.
Collaborate with tribal monitors and conduct construction monitoring as required.
Lead crews in the field and work independently in both field and office environments.
Maintain safety and quality standards while traveling and working in diverse field conditions.
Requirements
At least a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology/Archaeology/CRM
Minimum of 3+ years of all phases of professional archaeological field work experience, including in Northern California
Experience in construction monitoring and collaborating with tribal monitors
Knowledge of historic preservation laws and policies (NEPA, NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, and California regulations)
Experience using GPS technology
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to walk long distances over unfamiliar terrain, excavate shovel tests and test units, screen soil, and carry field equipment
Willingness and ability to travel frequently and for long periods
Motivation and ability to work safely with minimal supervision
Experience leading crews in the field
Ability to work independently in the field and office
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience
Experience conducting research, literature reviews, and cartographic reviews
Experience writing compliance reports and completing site forms
Background in a consulting environment
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and be responsive to clients

Compensation
Base pay range: $64,400.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
The base salary range for this position is $64,400.00 to $90,000.00; though it will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and other factors such as job-related skills, experience, and training.
