Overview
Visiting Assistant Professor in Art (Photography) — beginning July 1, 2026. This is a temporary one-year position for the 2026–27 academic year. The successful candidate will have expertise in photography grounded in studio practice, scholarship, and teaching, with research and teaching situating photographic practices within historical, cultural, and interdisciplinary frameworks. The base salary range is $71,900.00 to $80,400.00 per year. Teach a strong foundation in perceptual, formal, and critical skills within a liberal arts context, and engage students in the social and theoretical dimensions of contemporary photographic practice. Teach three courses in the fall and two courses in the spring; mentor senior photo concentrators and oversee Hamilton’s analog darkroom. Demonstrate capacity to interweave theory and practice, collaborate effectively, and contribute to undergraduate education in the liberal arts. Additional experience in other media and practices is welcome. Qualifications
MFA; a record of effective teaching in higher education; and a demonstrated record of scholarly and creative achievement. Ability to work with broadly diverse student populations and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive learning environment. Application materials
