Metrea is a defense company dedicated to translating commercial innovation into solutions for the hardest problems in national security. Air Mobility Group (AIRMOB) is responsible for developing and delivering Metrea’s aerial refueling (AAR) capabilities, ensuring the readiness and operational effectiveness of the tanker fleet. AIRMOB oversees fleet management, maintenance, and airworthiness, working to sustain and enhance refueling operations. It manages the integration of new processes and technologies, ensuring that tanker aircraft remain mission-ready through effective logistics, maintenance oversight, and regulatory compliance. By coordinating across various teams, AIRMOB ensures the fleet meets both current and future operational needs, supporting a range of specialized air mobility missions. Position Summary
The Safety Manager
is responsible to the Accountability Manager for the risk and hazard analysis and management, safety assurance, safety promotion and safety training and is expected to support, facilitate and lead the implementation and maintenance of the SMS, fostering an organisational culture for an effective safety management, risk management and occurrence reporting. The Safety Manager will act as the focal point and be responsible for the development, administration and maintenance of an effective Safety Management System (SMS). Role And Responsibilities
Advise the executive management team on all safety related matters impacting operations. Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis and management. Monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the safety action plan and provide periodic reports on safety performance. Ensure maintenance of safety management documentation. Ensure that there is safety management training available and that it meets acceptable standards. Provide advice on safety matters. Ensure initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence/accident investigations. Actively promote safety awareness within the organization, ensuring that all personnel are aware of safety protocols and best practices. Responsible for establishing safety policies and procedures for Metrea Strategic Mobility (MSM) contracts. Primarily responsible for the development, management, and continuous improvement of the MSM Safety Management System (SMS). Develop, publish, and implement program-specific addendums to the MSM SMS manual as required. Develop and implement applicable training materials to ensure the effectiveness of the MSM's SMS and the growth of MSM's safety culture. Conduct internal safety audits in accordance with all applicable directives and regulations. Education
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Experience
Five years in relevant and documented work experience as a safety manager, preferably in a comparable position, of MS’s, including quality and compliance monitoring systems, safety and risk management within an aviation operations environment. Skills
A deep understanding of the SMS framework, safety regulations, ICAO and FAA standards and national regulatory requirements and provisions on safety management. Knowledge of safety investigation techniques, root cause analysis, and technical report writing. Knowledge of risk assessment and mitigation strategies, safety audits, and continuous improvement processes. Human factors in aviation. Ability to analyse safety data to anticipate potential risks and implement mitigation strategies. The ability to communicate complex safety issues clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally. Must uphold the highest standards of integrity and ethical behaviour, ensuring that safety remains the top priority even in situations where operational efficiency or other business pressures may conflict. Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Certifications
Valid Driver’s License. Current US Passport. Must be able to hold & maintain a Top Secret (or higher) clearance level. Additional Eligibility Qualifications

This is a full-time non-exempt position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager. Work Location
