Overview

Coach - Girls Varsity Cross Country at James Lick High School within East Side Union High School District. The Varsity Coach has knowledge of the fundamental and advanced skills for cross country, instills commitment, discipline, and teamwork, and follows the CIF/CCS Coaches Code of Conduct and the BVAL Coaches Code of Conduct. The Coach communicates with parents, students, staff and the community. The Head Varsity Coach is responsible for oversight of all levels within the program/sport. Supervisor: Athletic Director under the direction of the site principal. Major Duties And Responsibilities

Demonstrates knowledge of the rules and fundamental skills and techniques, as well as the advanced techniques needed for cross country. Organizes practices and designs an appropriate conditioning program for the sport. Manages and follows all district guidelines and policies. Works effectively with parent groups, administrators, staff and students. Maintains positive communication with the community. Instills commitment, discipline, and teamwork among students with varying athletic abilities and backgrounds. Assists students in balancing demanding academic workloads with athletic commitments. Follows district fiscal procedures and cash handling related to fundraising, purchasing, tournament fees and other funds. Maintains and inventories equipment and uniforms to ensure student safety and minimize loss. Follows CIF/CCSBVAL Coaches Code of Conduct and BVAL policies and guidelines. Minimum Qualifications

Playing experience in cross country at high school, collegiate, amateur or professional levels. High school coaching experience at the JV level or youth leagues/middle school in cross country, or equivalent experience. Current State of California coaching certifications. Current certification required by East Side Union High School District, including mandatory reporter training. Must pass District fingerprint clearance. Professional references. Selected candidates must pass fingerprint clearance and provide current TB test results, valid CPR certification, valid First Aid certification, ASEP certification, Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Certification, Heat Illness Prevention Certificate, Mandated Reporter training, Sexual Harassment training, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention, Integrated Pest Management and Concussion certification prior to employment.
