Grand Valley State University's (GVSU) Master's in Physician Assistant Studies program (MPAS) welcomes applications for a full-time, tenure/tenure-track faculty position at their Grand Rapids location. This position will work with members of the Physician Assistant Studies (PAS) faculty to advance the education of PAS students. The role requires didactic lecture, laboratory, and small group teaching, with duties in scholarship and service. Position Title

Full-time, 12-Month, Tenure/Tenure Track Faculty Position in the Physician Assistant Studies Program at the Grand Rapids location. Summary

The MPAS program is recognized for educating clinically prepared clinicians and leaders. We seek a motivated, energetic individual who is committed to inclusion and can engage effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Required Qualifications And Education

If a PA, the applicant must be an NCCPA-certified physician assistant with a minimum of a master’s degree (PA degree focus) or a board-certified (ABMS or AOA) physician. Applicants must be eligible for a Michigan license. Documented record of professional and/or academic achievement. At least three (3) years of clinical experience (if a clinical degree). Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills and the ability to work effectively with others. Possess requisite knowledge of technology traditionally used in an academic setting (e.g., Microsoft Office, Zoom). Possess a strong commitment to the mission and goals of the university, college, and Department/Program. Preferred Qualifications And Education

Doctoral degree in a related field (e.g., DMSc, DHSc, EdD, M.D., D.O., PhD). At least two (2) years of academic experience or health-related teaching. Demonstrated ability to facilitate active learning and integrate educational technology into teaching. Responsibilities - Essential Functions

Educational/Teaching

Provide course lectures, labs, and other educational sessions as assigned. May include physiology/pathophysiology courses, clinical anatomy, medicine, and skills courses, research-based and/or clinical-based small group courses. Develop appropriate teaching materials to include written, audiovisual, computer, and self-instruction materials. Supervise and instruct students in didactic and/or clinical settings. Assist with recruitment of adjunct didactic faculty when appropriate. Evaluate student didactic and/or clinical performance in accordance with established program learning outcomes, competencies, instructional objectives, and performance standards. Provide academic advising to students to ensure satisfactory progression in achieving PAS program competencies. Integrate evidence-based practice and current research into teaching and clinical instruction. Administrative

Assist the Program Director/Department Chair as needed. Assist with Departmental/Program evaluation and ongoing self-assessment. Service

Contribute to the functioning and advancement of the program, college, university, and profession through meaningful service activities. Engage in interunit activities to promote the PA Program. Attend University/College/Departmental/Program faculty/staff/committee meetings and participate in committee activities. Maintain involvement in professional organizations and represent the program in local, regional, or national forums. Engage in community educational activities to promote the PA profession and recruit potential PA students. Remain current in the practice of medicine, as applicable. Scholarly Activity

Contribute to the academic mission of the PAS Program and GVSU through scholarly activity that supports teaching, advances the PA profession, and benefits the community. Promote scholarly inquiry in the PA program and with PA students. Engage in scholarly projects that result in presentations, publications, or other peer-reviewed dissemination. Participate in collaborative research with colleagues within the program, across departments, or with community partners. Seek internal or external funding to support scholarly initiatives when appropriate. Salary
