Job Overview We are seeking an ambitious and collaborative Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to support our fast-growing operations in Composites and Workplace/Facilities. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and management of critical EHS programs and training to ensure regulatory compliance while promoting a culture of learning and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Environmental: Support environmental management compliance, including Air permits, Hazardous and Industrial Waste, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and Spill Prevention Countermeasure and Control (SPCC) inspections and management tasks.
Health and Safety: Develop and manage programs for Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Ergonomics, Powered Industrial Trucks, Hazard Communication, Cranes and Rigging, Control of Hazardous Energy, Electrical and Battery Safety, Lockout/Tagout, Emergency Action Plan, etc.; conduct safety meetings, trainings, committees, stand-ups, and GEMBA walk-throughs with stakeholders.
Job Hazard Analyses (JHA): Lead creation for production and engineering processes; hazard control and safeguard implementation including vendor and project management.
EHS event analyses: Lead learning analyses and track actionable improvements; respond rapidly to health or safety emergencies and activate emergency procedures.
Manufacturing practices: Review and observe work practices to identify EHS program hazards or requirements; submit, track, and manage continuous improvement suggestions; address safety concerns on the floor and in writing.
Training: Provide EHS training and education to employees at all levels, including new hire orientation and ongoing safety training for high-risk activities.
Regulatory and program development: Support EHS team initiatives including regulatory reports, inspections, internal audits, emergency drills, and management system improvements; stay current on emerging EHS regulations and communicate updates to stakeholders.
Objectives and measurement: Develop individual and team objectives and key results and track progress toward completion.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, public health, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred.
2+ years of experience in EHS, preferably in boat building, aerospace, or general manufacturing or industrial environments.
Preferred Skills And Experience
2+ years working on industrial hygiene, exposure assessments, indoor air quality, ventilation.
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA/TCEQ, DOT); proven track record of developing and implementing EHS programs focused on injury prevention and risk reduction.
Analytical skills to assess complex situations, identify trends, and develop data-driven solutions.
Strong communication and organizational skills with ability to engage and influence stakeholders; experience conducting EHS training for diverse audiences.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS software for data management and reporting.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
Additional Requirements
Position occasionally requires overtime and weekend work when needed.
Ability to lift 35 lbs unassisted.
