Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems presents an opportunity for a Sr Principal Systems Software Analyst – Systems Analyst (25-488) to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. This role supports the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels. This role does not offer relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options available.
Position Overview The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an operational platform that enables planning, monitoring, and control of networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC connects, integrates, and synchronizes autonomous systems to improve performance and supports ground and flight tests that verify capabilities.
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Principal Systems Software Analyst to support the analysis of defense, missile, and space systems and to solve complex technical challenges. The ideal candidate will combine mathematics, physics, and software analysis to support National Defense objectives and will thrive in a mission-critical environment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience solving complex technical problems with innovative solutions, operating independently, and driving issue resolution to align with mission objectives. The role focuses on Missile Defense and Space Domain Awareness.
Essential Functions
Conduct technical analysis of real-world data related to Missile Defense and Space Domain Awareness
Develop, implement, and refine complex algorithms to analyze large-scale simulation and real-world data sets
Collaborate within an Agile Scrum team to design and complete tasks tied to program objectives
Interpret data to support features, designs, and future states of ballistic missile threats or systems
Update and improve existing operational algorithms based on new datasets
Use knowledge of defense systems to develop insights into BM/C2 concepts and protocols
Coordinate with stakeholders and represent the organization during customer engagements, providing technical insights as required
Basic Qualifications Please list your current security clearance and any applicable IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience solving complex technical problems with innovative solutions, operating independently, and driving issue resolution to align with mission objectives.
A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field from an accredited university with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD with 4 years of relevant work experience
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance is required at the start of employment
Required Candidates must demonstrate strong technical skills to support predictive analysis of ballistic missile threats and related systems. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is required:
Analysis and performance characterization of large-scale, complex system simulations related to ballistic missile defense, weapon systems, and C2 systems
Experience with MATLAB for large data arrays and system logic validation
Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments and Agile Scrum workflows
Understanding of missile defense elements such as C2BMC, AN/TPY-2, LRDR, BOA, SBIRS, GMB, Aegis BMD, PATRIOT
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Systems Engineering
INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)
OMG Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamentals (OCSMP-MBF)
The following skills and experience are highly desired to excel in this position:
Strong background in mathematics and physics to support algorithm development and data interpretation
Knowledge of ballistic missile and space domain awareness concepts, and Missile Defense System (MDS) operations
Experience with scenario generation, predictive modeling, or advanced simulation for defense systems engineering
Experience with defense communication systems and their roles in national security operations

Salary range: Primary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00. The above is a general guideline and can vary based on scope, responsibilities, experience, and current market conditions.
