Overview

Under the general supervision of the Deputy City Engineer, the Project Engineer for Development & Utilities is responsible for a wide range of engineering-related tasks including but not limited to: the review and approval of private development civil plans for residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects; the review and approval of floodplain permits for private and public developments; the formulation of City capital utility projects including oversight responsibility for consultant design and capital project management; management of waterline chlorination requests; utility capacity studies; technical plan & report review; data analysis & management; development and maintenance of engineering standards, guidelines, and best practices; utility asset management functions; technical support for construction or other field crews; and overall support for the development and implementation of plans and programs for the Engineering Department, Division of Development & Utilities. The work of the Project Engineer (Development & Utilities) focuses predominantly on the areas of site design; drainage and stormwater management design; sanitary sewer studies and design; waterline design; and utility asset management. Provide support for the Deputy City Engineer in project management for private development and utility projects.
