AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running by supporting data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to AWS services. You’ll work with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other roles to deliver high safety and security standards while providing scalable capacity at low cost. As a Regional Environmental Engineer, you will lead the environmental regulatory compliance function for your assigned area. You will advance environmental performance culture and improve regulatory adherence at our data centers by preventing, investigating, and mitigating environmental incidents. You will collaborate with data center teams, security, construction, operations, logistics, compliance, legal, and human resources to strengthen the global environmental compliance program. You will use data to evaluate trends related to leading and lagging indicators to help focus on environmental regulatory compliance, our organization\'s number one tenet. You will partner with employees and contractors to achieve compliance goals and improve our strong compliance culture. As AWS expands data capacity, you will work with construction managers to identify and mitigate environmental risks prior to live operations. You will operate in a fast-paced environment with evolving infrastructure, tools, and processes, advocating compliant changes when needed. Key job responsibilities

Regular interactions with customers delivering environmental performance leadership and guidance Implement environmental standards, policies and practices including environmental management systems, training, risk assessments, and applicable environmental regulations Conduct environmental compliance audits of data centers and active construction sites to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement Perform environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports, and develop corrective actions Maintain adequate compliance record keeping and data integrity Perform data trend analysis to present to cluster leadership in support of business and environmental compliance initiatives Consult and partner with compliance and legal teams for interpretations and guidance Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and within the company Prepare and submit time-critical reports to various governmental agencies Identify improvement opportunities and partner with Enviro InfraDevelopment on programmatic issues affecting construction/operations handover Qualifications

BA/BS degree in environmental science, chemical or environmental engineering, or related field 7+ years as an environmental technical resource, compliance specialist, program specialist, or program manager Experience with regulatory assessments and managing environmental compliance related to air quality, water quality, waste management, and hazardous materials Applied knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and standards related to air quality, water quality, waste management, and hazardous materials Master\'s degree or equivalent A builder, not a maintainer, in Environmental Program management Ability to follow the plan, while navigating ambiguity to implement long-term improvements across a portfolio of projects Use data and narratives to support efforts with a Plan-Do-Check-Act mindset Experience with Cority and Procore software Strong analytical skills on leading and lagging indicators with problem-solving abilities that show results Demonstrated understanding of environmental regulations for the jurisdiction About AWS and culture

Compensation and benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $98,700/year to $210,800/year, depending on location and other factors such as knowledge, skills, and experience.
