Overview Alamon, Inc., a Montana-based employee-owned company since 1975, provides installation services to the utilities, energy, and communications industries nationwide. This position entails: playing a vital role in the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of DC power systems. Must have experience working in Central Offices, MSO, and Data Centers. This position also requires experience in performing power plant battery replacements, VRLA battery replacements, working with wet cell batteries and performing DC power grounding. This position is ideal for a self-starter that possesses a safety mindset. This position requires extensive travel, and the wage will be determined by experience.
Base pay range $24.00/hr - $28.00/hr
Responsibilities
The DC Power Technician Level 2 will act as a lead; experience in such a role is required.
Must be able to work on the road for extended periods of time.
Read and interpret Central Office installation and Quality Standards (Telcordia GR-1275, Lumen 77350 / 77385, ATT TP-76300 / TP-76400, Verizon IP72202 ISS 5-1 Core Standards).
Read and interpret floor plans, rack drawings, and customer-provided work orders.
Plan and coordinate high-risk activities including identifying equipment, cards, pluggables, fiber cables, and circuit IDs; map out and run new fibers for integration, fiber rolls, and hot cuts.
Use hand tools, test equipment, and interface with customer products via computer.
Install relay racking, cable racking, fiber ducting, auxiliary framing, and other superstructure elements.
Install and terminate copper and fiber cables (RJ45, wire wrapping, BNC, LC/SC, etc.).
Proficient in lacing/stitching/sewing central office wire.
Install DC power rectification, batteries, fuse panels, and BDFB/BDCBB.
Work effectively with customer supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive; strong written and verbal communication skills.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications
Must pass the pre-employment screening process which includes a background check, drug test and motor vehicle records pull.
Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions, lifting up to 50 lbs, and hiking over varied terrain.
Current and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DUI/DWI within past 5 years).
Willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as required.
Available to work nights and weekends as required by project demands.
Work Environment
Visiting Alamon customer sites; facilities nationwide require travel.
Work in enterprise, educational, warehouse, and manufacturing settings.
Indoor and outdoor work based on contract scope; exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, noise, and wet or slick surfaces possible.
Wear PPE in compliance with Company standards and regulations when appropriate.
Work outdoors in all kinds of weather; may work long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
Physical Demands
Physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina to complete jobs in various environments.
Lift up to 50 lbs; ride in a vehicle for extended travel.
Ability to work at different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
Traverse job sites including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, kneeling, or stretching.
Color vision adequate for working with multi-colored cabling.
Follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment on tasks; work at heights with ladders.
Education and Experience
High school Diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to comply with Central Office / MSO / Data Center standards.
Must have DC Power (-48VDC) knowledge and be able to install and perform hot cuts as needed.
Reliability in transportation and willingness to travel.
ROADM installation experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Excellent time-management and multitasking abilities.
Travel Requirements
This position requires extensive travel. Lodging is provided while traveling for the Company.
