As an Account Manager on our Surety team, you will be responsible for working with Risk Advisors, clients, and underwriters to deliver bonding solutions that help clients meet their business objectives. Primary Job Responsibilities
Serve as primary contact for assigned surety clients, delivering proactive support. Manage bond issuance, renewals, and cancellations per client and carrier needs. Review financials and documents to support underwriting submissions. Build and maintain strong relationships with surety underwriters. Assist with new business by preparing submissions and supporting presentations. Track expirations and outstanding items to ensure timely follow-up. Use agency systems and carrier portals for documentation and updates. Educate clients on bond terms, conditions, and underwriting expectations. Apply agency bill procedures and carrier billing practices to support accurate invoicing and account reconciliation. Adheres to processes and actively participates in continuous improvement and Quality initiatives. Meet agency defined service and Quality metrics. Ensure policy compliance and maintain confidentiality of company and client information. Participate in internal learning and development sessions. Works on projects and other duties as assigned. Stay relevant and updated on industry trends. Be a team player supporting others and providing back up for other Account Managers. Skills/Competencies Required
Knowledge of surety bond types (contract, commercial, license & permit, etc.) and underwriting principles. Ability to follow procedures and keep processes/workflows up to date. Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities. Ability to work interdependently in a fast-paced environment. High level problem solver with ability to make decisions independently. Effective listening and communication skills to uncover needs, troubleshoot, and handle conflicts using our models. Commitment to continuous process improvement to drive productivity and performance. Keep current in construction and surety industry, continuing education requirements, and AI. Ability to adjust to shifting priorities, be resourceful, and welcome change. Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities and projects as needed. Highly self-motivated, strong work ethic, resilience, grit, and stress tolerance to overcome hurdles. Team Player who consistently defaults to good.
Qualifications
1 - 5 years' experience in Surety, preferably in an insurance agency. Active Property & Casualty license required or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire. Tech savvy with strong proficiency and ability to navigate multiple systems; including agency management systems, bonding software's, and Microsoft Office. Notary Public designation preferred. High School education or GED required. College degree and/or professional surety designations a plus.
General Working Conditions
Fast-paced office environment with significant telephone and in person interactions. Occasional travel may be required for client meetings, industry events, etc. Ability to view computer monitors for extended periods of time.
