Junior Construction Project Accountant

$65,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr Responsibilities
Monitor, track, and report project costs, budgets, and financial performance. Review and process subcontractor/vendor invoices and ensure proper coding and compliance with contracts. Prepare monthly draw requests, including gathering lien waivers, backup documentation, and submitting to lenders or owners. Maintain and reconcile project budgets and job cost reports. Collaborate with project managers to forecast costs and review cost-to-complete projections. Ensure timely billing and revenue recognition in accordance with contractual terms. Track change orders and ensure they are properly documented and approved. Reconcile general ledger project accounts and resolve discrepancies. Assist with project audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies. Communicate regularly with field staff, operations, and senior management regarding financial performance of projects. Support month-end and year-end close processes related to construction activities. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 1+ years of experience in construction accounting or project accounting required. Strong understanding of job costing, billing, and revenue recognition in construction. Familiarity with AIA billing formats, lien waivers, and retainage. Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills
Knowledge of GAAP and construction-specific financial practices. Experience working with general contractors, subcontractors, and developers. CPA or CMA designation is a plus. Prefer experience in construction accounting software (e.g. Sage 300 CRE, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar). Seniority level
