The Supervisory Accountant is responsible for financial reporting for their assigned plant functions, focusing on inventory accounting, internal controls, and variance analysis. This role supports the Accounting Manager and leads the Houston-based team, facilitating communication between accounting personnel, operations, and commercial management. Key responsibilities include monitoring plant costs, preparing budgets, and conducting reviews. The supervisor also oversees specific staff and supports process improvements and new initiatives, ensuring compliance with Westlake policies. Accounting Duties and Responsibilities

Manage accounting for manufacturing plants, including P&L, manufacturing statements, and balance sheets. Coordinate activities across locations and departments. Meet multiple deadlines and respond to management requests promptly. Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close duties, including accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations. Maintain internal controls, general and supporting ledgers, and prepare reconciliations. Analyze variances in financial statements and reports monthly, identifying issues and root causes for corrective actions. Report on manufacturing variances and inventory changes monthly. Prepare and distribute reports, including variance analysis and reporting packages. Assist in forecasting and budgeting processes. Support capital expenditure approvals and track AFE compliance. Ensure fixed assets and inventory accuracy through periodic verification and adjustments. Coordinate with operations to ensure timely closing of production work orders and proper accruals. Process intercompany transactions and manage accounts payable/receivable activities. Serve as the key financial accountant for the plant, ensuring compliance with corporate policies. Assist with cost savings and profit improvement programs, verifying financial data. Handle credit memos and return goods authorizations. Share best practices and serve as a backup team member. Lead technical compliance with US GAAP and continuous improvement initiatives. Facilitate audit processes and perform ad hoc analyses. Qualifications, Education, and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, 8+ years relevant experience, preferably in the chemical industry. CPA, CMA, or Master’s degree preferred. Cost accounting experience advantageous. Experience in manufacturing environments with multiple accounting functions and budgeting. Proficient in financial analysis, reconciliation, and reporting. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and BPC preferred. Physical Demands

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and use of hands; occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching; ability to lift up to 10 pounds; specific vision abilities required. Work Environment

Moderate noise level in office; some work in operational units requiring PPE; possible exposure to outside elements; occasional travel including air and auto travel. Additional Details
