Underwriter, Environmental – Admitted Casualty At AIG, we are reimagining the way we help customers to manage risk. Join us as an Underwriter, Environmental to grow your skills and experience as a valued member of the team. AIG is seeking a motivated Underwriter to contribute to our Environmental, Admitted Casualty team. Areas of focus include General Liability, Contingent Auto Liability, Foreign Voluntary Workers Compensation, Accident & Health, Property and Kidnap/Ransom.

In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting and servicing an existing renewal book with assistance to other team members who will solicit new business opportunities. This role includes interaction with brokers and insureds in the Small and Medium Enterprise space up to Fortune 500 companies. You will gain experience in a wide variety of coverages, client industries and specializations.

How You Will Create An Impact

Evaluating, prioritizing and selecting submissions to be underwritten.

Identifying risk exposures, special or common hazards, claims experience and appropriate controls.

Analyzing claims and quantifying losses.

Adhering to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks.

Ensuring underwriting files and services standards and compliance guidelines are adhered to on assigned accounts.

Offering coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer.

Capturing market intelligence and broker feedback on accounts.

Developing product knowledge within the Admitted Casualty portfolio.

Demonstrating business acumen, analytical skills and judgment in decision making.

Negotiation and building collaborative relationships.

Multi-tasking, prioritizing and time management in a high-volume environment.

Balancing changing priorities and working within time constraints; escalating risks as needed.

Working with more senior underwriters or management on risks requiring special handling.

Selling and negotiating to achieve profitability and meet customer needs.

Making presentations and communicating risk appetite and Admitted Casualty value proposition to brokers and clients.

Contributing to producer strategies and maintaining a submission pipeline to achieve production and business mix objectives.

Providing superior customer service to brokers and clients (internal & external).

What You’ll Need To Succeed

1+ years of relevant professional experience; Insurance experience preferred.

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.

Working knowledge of financial statements and analysis.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and collaborate with a wide range of colleagues.

Ability to facilitate cross-function collaboration, especially regarding technical aspects.

Detail-oriented with the ability to self-direct, prioritize and meet deadlines.

Shows initiative and seeks solutions; highly motivated and results-oriented.

Exposure to NA Casualty products is preferred (e.g., Environmental, Excess or Primary Casualty, NA Auto, WC, GL, DBA, Foreign Casualty).
