Finance Accountants Primary Purpose:
Assist with the successful management of the district finance processes.
Qualifications
Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in business/accounting Special Knowledge/Skills: Working knowledge of governmental financial Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processing Ability to implement policy and Ability to interpret data. Ability to assist with management of budget and Ability to coordinate district functions. Experience: Minimum two years of governmental accounting Successful supervisory Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Fiscal Management Assist in the preparation of the budget and development of long- and short-range objectives for the business operations of the district Assist campuses and departments within the district with questions and needs for budget changes, and discretionary Review financial records for accuracy and needed adjustments. Assist auditors, prepare monthly and end of year closing adjustments, assist with annual financial reporting in accordance with current accounting Assist with banking, investment and treasury management services. Oversee preparation of monthly bank reconciliations. Prepare quarterly and annual investment reports. Provide leadership to achieve cost-effective operations Ensure that accounting operations support the district’s goals and objectives All other duties as assigned
Policy, Reports, and Law
Implement policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in area of business Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents
Personnel Management
Prepare, review, and revise accounting office job descriptions Participate in and develop training options and/or improvement plans to ensure exemplary accounting operations. Evaluate job performance of employees to ensure Train, and supervise personnel and make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, assignment, retention, discipline, and
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff.
Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; Occasional district and statewide travel; occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Shared holiday banking and investing responsibilities off-site is a requirement of this position.
