This is a full-time
research
genetic counselor position. This position will support the Genomic Answer for Kids project and potentially other genomic studies within the Children's Mercy Research Institute. Specific responsibilities include overseeing the research genetic counselor assistants, communicating with families/patients enrolled in research studies, provide in person and TH genetic counseling related to research studies, work with marketing to create newsletters and updates, present to providers and community groups on various research projects, submit manuscripts/abstracts, supporting research center staff including variant analysts, principal investigators, and laboratory staff with research genetic testing process, track and route samples for research genetic testing, communicate with providers about research study processes and results, medical record review and curation of phenotypes. Responsibilities
Provides quality inpatient and outpatient clinical care for patients in Clinical Genetics and fifteen subspecialty clinics (FHC, Cardio, Cleft Palate, Craniofacial, etc).
Clinical Leadership: Serves as a clinical resource for the education and consultation needs of the health care team, community care providers, student learners, family advocacy groups and peer organizations.
Utilizes evidence-based practice principles and participates in performance improvement activities.
Utilizes expertise to control costs facilitating good stewardship of fiscal resources.
Participates in scholarly activities that contribute to the body of knowledge surrounding Genetic Medicine.
Qualifications
Master\'s Degree and 10 years of experience
Certified Genetic Counselor
M.S. in Genetics Counseling Required
ABMG or ABGC eligibility Required
ABMG or ABGC certification Required

Starting Pay Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $36.64/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
