Underwriting Specialist - Cargo/Ocean Marine (Hybrid or Remote)

We have an opportunity for a Cargo Underwriting Specialist to join our Ocean Marine team, working a hybrid schedule in Chicago, IL, or New York City, NY, or remotely nationwide. The Underwriting Specialist will underwrite and manage a book of business of highly complex, specialty accounts within broad authority levels. Key responsibilities include: Maximizing opportunities for underwriting profitable new and renewal business. Underwriting a book of business and managing underwriting quality and book management. Demonstrating a strong understanding of exposures and key coverage issues. Developing superior working relationships with producers to promote mutual growth and profitability goals. Regularly traveling to key producers/accounts and remaining highly visible in the marketplace. Providing training and mentoring to less experienced underwriters. The ideal candidate will have: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5-7 years of Cargo/Ocean Marine underwriting experience. A professional insurance designation (AICPCU, RPLU) is preferred. We offer a competitive salary range of $115,000 - $162,000, depending on location and experience.
