Position Summary

McCarthy is seeking a driven and self-motivated leader to join our Workforce and Community Engagement team to manage McCarthy's small business and community engagement program and further advance McCarthy's Workforce and Community Engagement (W&CE) Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management:Manage the regional small business and community outreach program activities in alignment with national W&CE Strategy. Promote Respectful Culture:Partner across the organization to include all departments and employees in the community engagement process. Create and implement learning and development strategy to ensure all partners are knowledgeable of McCarthy’s Small Business and Community Outreach Program, best practices, and business case. Own the Business Deal:Work with Business Unit Leader, Vice Presidents of Operations, Pre-Construction Director, Marketing and Business Development to develop initial strategy for project pursuits and inclusion goals. The manager will partner with the W&CE leadership team to establish a localized strategy. Project Oversight:Provide leadership and support to project teams to achieve small business goals. This includes maintaining knowledge of owner goals/requirements, goal tracking, recovery plans, communication and outreach strategies, and other best practices. Additionally, the manager will build and maintain a trusting and collaborative relationship with owner stakeholders with an emphasis on delivering an exceptional client experience. Market Presence:Represent the business by participating on boards and committees and providing thought leadership to key organizations within the region such as AGC, ABC, NAMC, and NMSDC. Capacity Building:In partnership with the Sr. Director of W&CE and regional cross functional teams deliver technical capacity building programs, mentor protégé relationships, other trade partner development programs, and pipeline development (increasing pool of small business partnerships). Community Engagement: Lead and sustain community engagement strategies that strengthen local partnerships, enhance brand trust, and align with organizational goals through service initiatives, workforce development, and outreach programs. Embody the Values of McCarthy:Be the lead in representing McCarthy and its values to all project stakeholders, internal and external, including establishing and promoting a positive image of McCarthy within the community.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in community outreach and small business engagement Proven ability to build trust-based relationships with internal teams, external partners, and local stakeholders Knowledge of small business procurement practices and strategies to expand trade partner pool Experience supporting construction project teams with community-facing goals and workforce participation requirements Strong communication skills, including public speaking, written reports, and presentation development Ability to collaborate across departments and influence senior leaders toward shared goals
