Conducts basic social casework and coordinates related parent involvement services, including guiding parents in their children’s education and development, coordinating health, nutrition, mental health, disability and parent involvement related services for families, and serving as the point person for family case management. Position Responsibilities

Under the Head Start/Early Head Start Center Based Option, provide family and community engagement services related to health, nutrition, mental health, disability, social services and parent involvement. Interact with the public, provide customer service by phone, email and in person. Maintain program databases and recordkeeping files; prepare correspondence, reports, and other paperwork. Provide written translation or spoken interpretation for non-English clients. Provide case management services to families and children; support outreach, recruitment, selection and enrollment activities. Essential Duties

Obtain child and family information and complete service area forms accurately. Identify children with special placement considerations. Manage a caseload of up to 55 children. Conduct family assessments to identify strengths, interests and needs. Assist in developing Individualized Family Partnership Agreement Plans and follow up on resources and support. Conduct vision and hearing health screenings for enrolled children. Coordinate health screenings per Bright Futures guidelines. Maintain communication with in-house Service Area Managers and health providers to obtain health requirements. Conduct home visits and follow up on family and health services as needed. Develop action plans with families facing attendance challenges. Participate in planning and conducting Parent Committee Meetings and ensure minutes are translated and posted on time. Facilitate Parent Education Workshops and monitor Parent Bulletin board for current events. Participate in Multidisciplinary Team Meetings as needed. Address parents’ concerns with service staff; track family goals and produce progress reports. Advocate for parents with public and private service agencies to obtain needed family services. Report signs of child abuse or unsafe living conditions to authorities. Use computers (MS Office, Email, Internet) to store data, write reports and conduct research. Data entry of activities in the Child Plus database; maintain orderly records. Provide translation and interpretation services for non-English speaking parents. Attend staff development training to enhance service quality. Support and promote recruitment and enrollment goals. Assist in securing program non-federal matches through community resources. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Experience)

Education and Work Experience Associate’s degree OR Family Development Credential and high school diploma or GED 1-year minimum experience in social work or family development, preferably in an early childhood development setting Experience providing social services to families and basic knowledge of social work in early childhood context Knowledge and Skills Bilingual in Spanish is required (written and spoken) Excellent communication skills with parents, community members and staff Ability to work with diverse populations Ability to handle multiple tasks and coordinate meetings Availability to work weekday evenings and/or Saturdays for activities Data entry skills and experience Special Conditions

Valid California Driver’s License and insurance Family Development Credential within first year, as schedule permits by LACOE Background checks required: Sex Offender Registry, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, State/Tribal Criminal History Check (with fingerprints), FBI Criminal History Check (with fingerprints) TB clearance at time of employment and renewed every four years Health screening (LIC 503) at time of employment and renewed every four years Immunizations: Measles, Pertussis, Influenza, and COVID-19 15 hours of professional development annually, with at least 50% in relevant content; complete a PDP Child Plus data entry training within 6 months Vision and hearing certification within first year Physical Demands
