Portland State University (PSU) is an urban university and Oregon’s largest, located in the heart of the vibrant city of Portland. The College of Education (COE), Oregon’s largest and most comprehensive college of education, has a motto of “equity-driven research, teaching, and practice”. The COE mission is to prepare students to advance lifelong learning in diverse learning environments. The College of Education, Department of Educational Leadership & Policy (ELP) invites applications for new Adjunct Instructors with expertise in the following core program areas:
Postsecondary Adult & Continuing Education Educational Administration Leadership for Sustainability Education Training & Development Our Guiding Principles Are:
We create and sustain educational environments that serve all students and address diverse needs. We encourage and model exemplary programs and practices across the life span. We build our programs on the human and cultural richness of the University’s urban setting. We develop collaborative efforts that foster our mission. We challenge assumptions about our practice and accept the risks inherent in following our convictions. We develop our programs to promote social justice, especially for groups that have been historically disenfranchised. We strive to understand the relationships among culture, curriculum, and practice and the long-term implications for ecological sustainability. We model thoughtful inquiry as a basis for sound decision-making. We model and facilitate the effective use of technology to increase access to and support for teaching, learning, and research. Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Education (or closely related field) Previous teaching experience Preferred Qualifications:
Ed.D or Ph.D. in Education (or closely related field) Experience teaching adults Key Cultural Competencies:
Creates an environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates differences. Functions and communicates effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities and cultural backgrounds.
