**Job Summary:**
The Trauma Informed Counselor will provide therapy and support to individuals who have experienced trauma, utilizing evidence-based practices and a profound understanding of trauma's impact on mental health. The counselor will assist clients in comprehending the repercussions of trauma, developing coping mechanisms, and progressing towards healing and recovery.
**Responsibilities:** 1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine clients' needs and formulate individualized treatment plans. 2. Offer individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based trauma-informed approaches. 3. Collaborate with various professionals and community resources to ensure holistic care for clients. 4. Maintain accurate and current client records in compliance with regulations. 5. Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary. 6. Educate clients on coping strategies and self-care techniques. 7. Create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment conducive to healing and recovery. 8. Prepare reports, records, and other necessary documentation. 9. Perform any other related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications:** - Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral science field. - New York State licensure as a counselor (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent). - Previous experience working with individuals who have undergone trauma. - Proficiency in trauma-informed care principles and practices. - Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting. - Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and a nonjudgmental attitude toward counseling. - Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as electronic medical record systems (preferably eCW). - Cultural competency and awareness of diverse populations. Compensation: $27.81 - $29.52/hr.
