The rate of pay for this position is $21.00 an hour. Monday through Friday 10am to 6:30pm. Location: 43 SE 102nd Ave Portland OR 97216 This position is based at the Youth CNCT and starts each day on site, then launches into the community to meet with youth, returning to Youth CNCT or other New Avenues sites between meetings and at the end of the day. Transform Lives, Transform Yourself: New Avenues for Youth seeks a compassionate and resilient Education Specialist to join our East Connect team. You will be a consistent and intentional guide for youth navigating education paths, empowering young people to be more prepared and resourced to move through challenging moments and reach their unique goals. What You’ll Do

Be a Mentor and Guide: Build genuine connections with youth, share relevant and intentional experiences to instill confidence and build trust. Empower Through Advocacy: Help young people navigate education systems, access academic resources, collaborate and coordinate with other providers as part of a wraparound approach, and make informed decisions about their own journey. Support Growth and Learning: Tutor youth, build skills around education, organization, and post-education planning and navigation. Document the Journey: Maintain accurate and timely records to ensure our programs have the data they need to thrive. Benefits

Relevant work experience, lived experience, or both. A Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, or related human services field is a plus. Experience working with youth facing multiple barriers. Ability to employ diverse methods to support student learning, reengagement, retention, and progress. Experience in tutoring, GED preparation, advocacy, re-engagement services, collaboration with schools/districts, and post-secondary access support. Excellent communication, organization, creativity, flexibility, optimism, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with diverse staff and youth in a multicultural environment. Valid driver’s license and regular access to an insured vehicle. Willingness to be CPR trained and certified; ability to assess risk and respond using a triage model. This position requires a high level of mobility and the ability to adapt to different situations and locations. A person must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodation. The role may involve exposure to outdoor weather and a moderate noise level. If PPE is required, New Avenues will provide it. Apply Today
