Overview
Position Summary: The Dental Assistant provides technical assistance during dental procedures and examinations according to established protocol and procedures and supports specialists in Endodontics, Prosthodontics, Periodontics or Orthodontists.
Responsibilities
Patient Interaction and Care: Greet, direct, and escort patients, providing routine information about procedures. Calm and soothe anxious or uncooperative patients throughout their treatment.
Clinical Session Preparation and Assistance: Review schedules and planned procedures with providers. Prepare rooms, instruments, and materials for scheduled treatments and assist during procedures.
Impressions and Imaging: Take dental impressions, produce study models, and handle lab case logistics. Take, develop, and manage dental radiographs and digital photographs, ensuring quality standards are met.
Record Keeping and Charting: Chart teeth and conditions in the electronic dental record as directed by the provider.
Maintenance and Supply Management: Maintain cleanliness and sterility of patient areas and instruments. Monitor equipment, report issues, and ensure treatment rooms are well-stocked and equipped.
Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
License & Certification:
Completion of a CODA Accredited Program Certificate
Current Massachusetts license as a Dental Assistant
BLS certification or CPR/AED certification
Board approved examination for DANB Radiation Health and Safety RHS required within 60 days of hire
Experience: At least one year of experience working in a Dental Clinic is preferred. Experience working in a Pediatric Dental Practice is highly desirable.
