Overview

Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider who provides primary and/or specialty care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with the health care team in accordance with certification and licensure. Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Responsible for dissemination of knowledge through instructing, leading and developing educational programs. The Cancer Institute is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (Adult or Family certified) for a full-time position with the Hematology/Oncology department at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital. This position will provide inpatient support for Hematology and Oncology services, including Infusion Suite coverage with management of chemotherapy and infusion reactions. Other typical duties include hospital consultations, hospital follow-ups, and bone marrow biopsies. Responsibilities

Conducts thorough medical histories, performs physical examinations as needed, initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other tests required for evaluation of illness, and develops a working diagnosis and treatment plan in collaboration with the health care team. Performs and interprets routine diagnostic procedures and tests as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals. Performs routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals. Prescribes and monitors medications as allowed by license and Cleveland Clinic policies. Educates patients about disease, treatments, drug effects and possible hazards. Participates in medical team rounds; collaborates with nursing, medical and other health care team members to ensure quality patient care. Refers patients to specialists when appropriate for consultation or specialized health resources and treatment. Ensures continuity of care by coordinating with the multi-disciplinary care team and other specialty areas as necessary. Participates in quality monitoring through record and treatment plan reviews to ensure quality patient care. Supports discharge planning and inpatient management in compliance with regulatory standards. Supports the professional development of the health care team and promotes evidence-based practices, guidelines, and research. May conduct research studies or assist with data collection and analysis. May serve as a clinical preceptor for students or onboard new caregivers. Other duties as assigned. Education

APRN Effective 05/01/2014: MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for external hires and internal hires moving from a non-APRN licensed role to an APRN licensed role. Graduate of an accredited APRN program. If in neonatal care service area, Master’s Degree is required upon hire. PA Graduate of an ARC-approved Physician Assistant Program. Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or higher degree recognized by state licensing board. Languages

Oral and written communication in English Certifications

NP

Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in applicable state(s). Licensed as an RN in applicable state(s). National certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally accredited organization recognized by the state Board of Nursing. BLS through the American Heart Association required. ACLS or PALS (or NRP) may be required depending on work setting. Arrangements with at least one physician in accordance with State Board of Nursing requirements. Credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals. CNS

Currently licensed as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in applicable state(s). RN license in applicable state(s). National certification as a CNS by a nationally accredited organization recognized by the state Board of Nursing. BLS required. ACLS or PALS (or NRP) may be required based on work setting. Arrangements with at least one physician as per State Board of Nursing requirements. Credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals. PA

Certification as a Physician Assistant through NCCPA or successor organization. License to practice and prescribe issued by the practicing state Licensing Board. Current DEA License or DEA designation as required by state. BLS required. ACLS or PALS (or ATLS where applicable) may be required depending on work setting. Must have Physician Supervision Agreement and related addenda where applicable. Credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals. Work Experience

Related clinical experience preferred. Physical Requirements

Walking and standing for long periods; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Occasionally lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds. Exposure to possible infectious diseases and body fluids. Pay and Employment Details
