Overview

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, Outpatient is responsible for providing medical care and treatment to patients. Performs physical examinations and preventative health measures within the prescribed guidelines and instructions of the physician. Plans a treatment strategy to meet identified needs, evaluates responses to nursing and medical interventions. Responsibilities

Patient Care: Provides quality care to patients. Responds to patient calls and messages promptly and aims for same-day completion of calls and messages. Maintains accurate patient and business records including the completion of encounters. Observes patients for signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect and reports immediately in accordance with policy. Recognizes emergencies and responds appropriately in adherence to organizational policy and procedure. Coordinates plans of care, periodically reviews these plans and implements methods to maintain the quality of care. Compliance: Stays abreast of responsibilities required by federal and state laws, statutes, or regulations as enacted or amended. Maintains the confidentiality of all patient information per HIPAA policies and procedures. Maintains the required continuing education hours to ensure continued competence. Professionalism and Support: Demonstrates professional ownership and commitment to the principles and core values of guest relations. Demonstrates leadership of the clinical team. Communicates with clinic leadership, escalates issues, and presents solutions. Safety and Infection Control: Assists with compliance to safety, environmental, infection control, quality improvement, and other regulatory standards. Implements standard and transmission-based precautions. Performs hand hygiene and ensures patient safety during clinic visits. Maintains a clean clinic working environment. Reports safety hazards or violations to the clinic manager or designee. Collaboration: Provides input in hiring, disciplinary actions, and termination decisions of clinical personnel. Attends daily huddles, staff meetings, and provider meetings. Participates in ongoing performance improvement activities and initiatives. Education Qualifications

Master's Degree from an approved NP Program required or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program (MS-PAS). Licenses and Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association Registered Nursing License (RN) from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing or current PA License in the State of Louisiana from the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners PA (Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants - NCCPA) Skills and Abilities

Women’s Health Certification/WHNP and experience preferred Medical skills Computer software skills ICD-10 and CPT-4 knowledge Communication and guest relation skills Work Shift
