Overview
The County of San Diego, Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is recruiting for the position of Supervising Nurse. Interviews will be held on Thursdays. Qualifying applicants will be invited via email to schedule an interview, and candidates should be prepared to complete background paperwork following the interview. Supervising Nurses provide professional, specialized nursing care to adult patients in an acute or post-acute setting and serve as a second level supervisor, first level manager in the nursing series. Future Salary Increases: June 2026 – 5.67% increase to base pay (3.5% Across-the-Board + 2.17% Market Adjustment) June 2027 – 5.17% increase to base pay (3% Across-the-Board + 2.17% Market Adjustment) Hourly rates and premiums: May be eligible for relocation allowance up to $8,000. Minimum Qualifications
A valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State of California; AND Current CPR card is required at the time of appointment, which must be maintained throughout employment; AND A valid National Provider Identification Number (NPI) required at the time of employment; incumbents must maintain the NPI throughout employment. Four (4) years of registered nursing experience, including at least one (1) year in a long term care, rehabilitation, geriatric and/or psychiatric nursing facility, AND one (1) year in nursing management. Note
A bachelor's degree in nursing or higher may substitute for one year of RN experience. A master's degree may substitute for two years of RN experience. Substitution cannot be applied to the one year of experience in a long term care/geriatric/psychiatric facility or the one year of experience in nursing management. Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days after background investigation results. Anticipated Start Date: Based on medical screening completion or other mutually agreed date. Prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional background investigations may be conducted based on job-related activities. Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening. Evaluation Process
