Overview
Piedmont Heart Institute (PHI), located in the heart of Atlanta, is recruiting for Critical Care Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners. This is an opportunity to be an integral part of one of the nation's leading cardiology programs, working alongside highly-respected physicians who value multidisciplinary teamwork and are proven leaders in their respective fields. PHI’s critical care extenders provide 24-hour, on-site coverage to high-acuity patients, treating and managing conditions including coronary artery disease, advanced heart failure, structural heart disease, high-risk interventions, arrhythmia, cardiogenic shock, temporary mechanical circulatory support including ECMO, and cardiothoracic surgery including transplant and ventricular-assist device implantation. Cardiac Critical Care -PRN- Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner - Piedmont Atlanta Hospital
Responsibilities
Provides direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients within institutional guidelines and evidence-based standards under the supervision of the patient’s physician.
Formulates and implements a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s).
Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.
Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based on patient status.
Within credentialing standards, inserts and manages arterial catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, and intra-aortic balloon pump catheters.
Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation and administration of life-supporting drugs; assists with ECPR and ECMO cannulations.
Assesses patients for changes in status and initiates appropriate interventions to stabilize the patient.
Incorporates clinical research findings in the development and implementation of standards of care.
Supports IRB-approved clinical research/trials through various activities.
Serves as a clinical expert and education consultant to nursing, the healthcare team, and the broader community.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Masters or Bachelors degree from an Accredited PA program with National Board Certification OR licensed as a Nurse Practitioner with approval to practice in Georgia and National Certification.
Experience: ICU/Critical Care experience preferred.
