We are seeking an experienced SAP Archiving Specialist to design, implement, and manage data archiving and retention strategies across SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA environments. The role requires deep expertise in SAP Data Archiving, OpenText Integration, Content Server management, and Near-Line Storage (NLS/NSE) to ensure system performance, compliance, and cost optimization. Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end data archiving strategy across SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA landscapes Configure and manage SAP Data Archiving Objects across FI, MM, SD, PP, and other business modules Integrate SAP Archiving with OpenText and SAP Content Server for document storage and retrieval Implement and support SAP ILM where applicable for GDPR, SOX, and data privacy compliance Manage Near-Line Storage and Native Storage Extension solutions to optimize historical data management in SAP BW/4HANA and S/4HANA Perform system health checks, troubleshoot archiving jobs, and monitor data growth Partner with BASIS, Security, and Business Process teams to ensure secure and compliant data retention policies Conduct performance tuning to minimize system impact during archiving and retrieval processes Develop cutover and migration strategies for archiving during system upgrades and S/4HANA migrations Document archiving policies, procedures, and training materials for IT and business stakeholders Required Skills & Qualifications
8+ years of SAP experience with at least 5+ years focused on SAP Data Archiving Strong knowledge of SAP ECC and S/4HANA data structures and archiving framework Hands-on expertise with SAP Data Archiving Objects (SARA, transaction codes, and configurations) Experience integrating SAP with OpenText Archive Server and SAP Content Server Practical experience with NLS (SAP IQ, BW NLS) and NSE (HANA Native Storage Extension) Familiarity with SAP ILM and compliance-driven retention management Ability to analyze data growth trends and recommend archiving solutions to optimize database footprint Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills Excellent communication and documentation skills to work with IT and business stakeholders Preferred Qualifications
Experience in SAP RISE / Cloud archiving solutions Knowledge of GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX compliance requirements SAP certifications in Data Archiving, ILM, or HANA technologies Previous experience in large-scale ECC to S/4HANA migration projects Soft Skills
