Overview
Summary: Assists with the safety, movement, management and care of students with special needs while on a bus. Partners with the assigned driver to provide appropriate transportation services for students. Responsibilities
Assists the bus driver in managing student behaviors on the bus. Assists students with loading/unloading the school bus. Ensures responsible adults meet students leaving the bus. Operates equipment, including wheelchairs, tie-downs, seat belts, safety vests, safety restraint systems, mechanical lifts and other adaptive equipment as necessary. Assists driver in ensuring seat belts, safety restraint systems and wheelchair securement straps are secured as required. Provides written records of any incident that occurs on the bus to the supervisor. Is alert to conditions in the loading and unloading area which present a danger to students. Ensures students are appropriately secured in bus. Attends all meetings as directed by transportation staff and meetings scheduled by schools pertaining to position. Maintains current knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures. Properly assists and cleans body fluids as necessary. Assists the bus driver in cleaning and disinfecting the bus interior and with the removal of trash and litter daily. Performs related duties as assigned. Position details
