Automation Manager - Manufacturing Support. Pfizer Global Supply seeks an experienced engineering leader to ensure that manufacturing processes are efficient, reliable, and innovative. You will work with our manufacturing team to design, develop, and maintain automation systems, and to support maintenance and reliability initiatives that help deliver life-saving medicines to patients worldwide.
What You Will Achieve In this role, you will:
Manage a staff of 4-6 Automation Engineers
Facilitate resource management in alignment with manufacturing support, compliance requirements, manage projects and resources, and act as a liaison with stakeholders and project teams
Lead and manage people, technology, and financial resources within the department; share knowledge and identify potential improvements
Support department budgeting and participate in strategy planning
Develop others by identifying development needs, creating growth plans, and evaluating direct reports through goal setting, coaching, and ongoing assessment
Lead or co-lead complex projects with effective time and resource management
Make decisions to resolve complex problems and develop new options in ambiguous situations
Work independently on assignments and seek guidance for unusual or complex problems
Review own work, seek direction, and mentor junior to mid-level automation engineers
Maintain and support automation computing infrastructure with 24x7x365 on-call rotation
Ensure system-wide compliance, provide technical leadership, and communicate progress and issues to management and peers
Supervise design, implementation, and commissioning of automated manufacturing systems through FAT/SAT, verification testing, and operational support; coordinate with third-party suppliers, vendors, and contractors as needed
Support internal and external audits by providing automation knowledge and guidance
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS with at least 4 years of experience or MBA/MS with at least 2 years of experience or PhD/JD with any years of experience or associate's degree with at least 8 years of experience or high school diploma (or equivalent) with at least 10 years of relevant experience in automated systems in the pharmaceutical, biopharma, life sciences or related industries
Experience in leading cross-functional teams
Excellent people and project management skills
Strong presentation and communication skills
Ability to work independently while managing people and multiple priorities
Experience with regulatory compliance in a pharmaceutical/biotech manufacturing environment
Ability to interact with functional groups at site, including Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Technical Operations
Demonstrated experience in Automation Engineering with expertise in process controls equipment and DeltaV Batch and Continuous software configuration
Strong design and troubleshooting skills
Broad understanding of systems architecture and operations, along with related components
Experience with regulatory compliance in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)
Previous people leadership combined with technical expertise using DeltaV control systems
Proficiency in automation software/tools (PI, Infobatch, AgileDoc)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and facilitate collaboration
Experience developing and implementing new methodologies and concepts
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor and guide team members
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Network hardware and software management
Master's degree and relevant pharmaceutical experience
Physical/Mental Requirements Job may include sitting, standing, walking, bending, the ability to perform mathematical calculations, and the ability to perform complex data analysis.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $112,700.00 to $187,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share-based long-term incentive program. Benefits include a 401(k) with Pfizer matching, retirement contribution, vacation, holidays, paid leave, and health coverage. Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs.
