Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. CookUnity was founded to connect the world with the source of great food: chefs. CookUnity delivers 50 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes nationwide. We are expanding to empower Chefs to nourish the world and are seeking a Sustainability Lead to align facility operations with sustainable practices, with a focus on achieving and maintaining Zero Waste Certification. The Sustainability Lead is responsible for waste management, Zero Waste implementation, compliance and audit preparation, training and employee engagement, collaboration and reporting, continuous improvement and corrective action in relation to sustainability efforts. Responsibilities
Walk through CookUnity’s facilities to ensure sustainable procedures are followed. Oversee waste sorting and disposal to meet zero-waste goals. Track and analyze waste data, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement. Classify, weigh, and dispose of food waste (donations/compost/garbage/family meals). Register waste of packed meals in spreadsheet. Coordinate DONATIONS pickups with the non-profit organization we work with. Provide feedback to teams to uphold sustainability standards and foster sustainable behavior. Lead Zero Waste Training for chef teams. Prepare and lead sustainability audits for Zero Waste Certification. Participate in and lead corrective actions related to sustainability audits. Provide data and information to achieve Zero Waste Certification to RTS personnel. Ensure supplies for correct waste diversion (stickers, posters, bins). Coordinate with the cleaning team to keep Green Stations clean and organized. Purchase supplies as needed. Collaborate with OPS for the success of Sustainability Programs. Identify and implement new sustainable solutions for food waste reduction. Work with partners and respond to required documentation. Organize the team to ensure daily task completion. Bilingual – Spanish and English (mainly spoken). Basic knowledge of Google Docs. Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a physically demanding environment. Qualifications
Bilingual – Spanish and English (preferred). Experience in waste management, sustainability programs, and audit preparation. Strong data tracking and analytical skills. Ability to train teams and lead cross-functional collaboration. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Compensation
Pay Range for this position: $19 - $22 USD All final pay rates will be determined by candidates’ experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
