Overview We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer with a strong background in backend engineering, specializing in application deployment, automated continuous integration testing, and performance monitoring. The ideal candidate will ensure the visibility of key metrics to inform developers\' decision-making processes.
Location: Remote or Local to Washington DC
Rate: $45 - $50 an hour
This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a W2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. For W2 consultants, benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.
Responsibilities
Communication and Collaboration: Demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team environment. Share progress, seek assistance when needed, and provide constructive feedback to peers.
Continuous Learning: Exhibit a strong eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies, frameworks, and best practices in web development and cloud infrastructure management.
Technology Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills on existing and emerging agile best practices, relevant technologies, and security best practices.
Skills & Qualifications
Version Control: Proficiency with version control systems like Git for collaborative development and managing codebase changes.
Terraform: Basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and experience with Terraform for provisioning and managing infrastructure resources on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, and Jenkins.
Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Go, and PowerShell.
Linux & System Administration: Strong understanding of file systems, process management, and performance tuning.
AWS Services: Familiarity with core AWS services, including AWS Lambda, S3, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EC2, RDS, CloudFront, and CloudWatch.
Database Management: Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
Experience Requirements
Required Experience: 5 years of experience with AWS, infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.), and scripting (Python, Bash, etc.).
3 years of experience with TypeScript/JavaScript.
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or equivalent
Note: Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
