Project Engineer

Spicer Group . Spicer Group is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Transportation Highway & Roadway Technical Service Group. This Project Engineer will be responsible for producing designs for a variety of transportation infrastructure projects including major highways, roadways, and related infrastructure. The Project Engineer will join a highly skilled team of Transportation Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and Technicians to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. They’ll utilize their technical expertise to conduct feasibility studies, project cost estimates, create and prepare engineering plans, specifications, and technical calculations. Additionally, they can expect to visit client construction sites, attend client and project meetings, and perform project research to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects, including major highways and roadways
Coordinate with design teams to prepare engineering plans, specifications, and technical calculations
Utilize engineering software tools such as AutoCAD/Civil 3D and MicroStation/ORD to develop project designs and provide technical modeling expertise
Apply transportation roadway design knowledge to develop creative, efficient solutions
Resolve complex issues within plan sets involving roads, drainage, traffic, signing, pavement markings, sidewalk ramps, curbs, and related elements
Provide technical guidance and support to Design Engineers, technical staff, and project team members
Conduct feasibility studies and prepare project cost estimates
Perform client construction site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications, standards, and regulations
Collaborate with clients, contractors, and engineers to meet project objectives
Attend client and project meetings
Work with Project Managers on schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery
Prioritize tasks and demonstrate accountability to the project team to deliver high-quality projects
Assist marketing team with generating a project proposal
Physical presence is an essential function of this job.

Qualifications Preferred Experience & Licensure
Minimum 4 years of civil engineering experience
2+ years of experience in transportation roadway infrastructure projects
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Michigan
Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation/ORD, and Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively with clients
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license within a year of being hired
