The
System Admin, Linux Engineer II
supports NORAD on the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II. Trace3 Gov’s team provides engineering expertise and IT services to NORAD, NORTHCOM, USSTRATCOM, and US Space Force Command and Control (C2) missions. Responsibilities include enterprise architecture, system engineering, software development, system integration, and system testing to fulfill operations, maintenance, and sustainment requirements. Experience supporting capability development and sustainment of Command and Control (C2) systems in an Agile environment for missile warning, missile defense, and space domain awareness (SDA) domains is highly desired. Note:
This position will be filled and worked onsite in Colorado Springs, CO; active (or active within 24 months) Security Clearance REQUIRED. Essential Job Functions
Provide skilled Systems Administration/Integration to support complex Linux environments. Administer, update, troubleshoot air/missile warning and space defense systems in development/test environments. Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve performance and reliability, including installation, upgrades/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management. Maintain internal administration and capacity management of the integrated NISSC development environment at the Government Test Development Facility. Set up and manage Linux and Windows systems and ensure compliance with government security standards. Build, configure, troubleshoot, and integrate servers for service enhancements, deployments, and infrastructure upgrades. Manage administrator and service accounts, document systems, tune performance, install software, and allocate storage. Troubleshoot network hardware/software, OS upgrades, and security systems to resolve issues and restore services. Monitor performance, system usage, and backups/recovery. Familiarity with storage appliances and configurations; experience with VMware and optimization. Familiarity with CI/CD, Agile development, and DevSecOps tools and processes. Implement patches, perform vulnerability scanning/remediation, and audit findings; support OS patching per security policy. Support software deployments to customer sites; manage lab tickets and issue resolution. Preferred Technical Skills
Experience administering complex Unix/Linux applications; expert in Linux/Unix system administration from OS installation up. Knowledge of IA policies, Active Directory integration with Linux (group policies), scripting in Perl, Bash, and Expect (or equivalents). Experience with configuring/troubleshooting clustered and virtual Oracle and Linux servers; network services including Active Directory, LDAP, Radius, NPS. Understanding of DNS, DHCP, LDAP/AD, Kerberos; server support for Linux and VMware; ability to troubleshoot root causes of infra issues. Experience creating custom scripts for client needs; familiarity with network administration and security-hardening. Linux IPA including LDAP, DNS, Kerberos; large RAID storage management; Linux kernel tuning; VMware ESXi, vCenter, ISCSI/NFS storage. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years of experience SECURITY CLEARANCE: Minimum Secret Clearance (Active or active within past 24 months), TS preferred EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, or equivalent experience; DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher within 90 days of starting U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions at Trace3 Gov. Actual salary will be based on location, experience, and certifications. Salary range for this position elsewhere may differ. Some roles may be eligible for variable incentive compensation.
