Overview

Project Engineer - Puerto Rico - 12-month contract. We are recruiting on behalf of a leading global pharmaceutical client based in the surroundings of Barceloneta. Due to a large capital investment and multiple projects on site, the client is looking for a Project Engineer to join their team. Responsibilities

Investigate and resolve Project Deviation Notices (PDNs) and technical discrepancies between design and field conditions Lead or support resolution of change control processes (including scope changes, late design revisions, and unforeseen field conditions) Work cross-functionally with engineering, construction, CQV, operations, and quality teams to align on technical solutions Ensure that design intent is maintained and documented changes are tracked accurately Coordinate with EPCM partners, design-build firms, and subcontractors to clarify and execute field modifications Conduct field walks to identify installation conflicts, evaluate proposed solutions, and verify completed work Support construction readiness, turnover package preparation, and commissioning inputs from a technical perspective Maintain logs, trackers, and dashboards of open PDNs and change items, ensuring timelines are met and communication is clear Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related discipline) Project engineering experience in a regulated industry (pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or specialty chemical manufacturing preferred) Strong understanding of cGMP, FDA compliance, and validation requirements Experience supporting capital projects in design, construction, or CQV phases Familiarity with engineering drawing packages (P&IDs, redlines, markups), technical documentation, and field verification Demonstrated ability to work on fast-paced projects with evolving scope and multiple stakeholders Proficient in issue tracking tools, Microsoft Project or Primavera, and document control systems Strong interpersonal and communication skills—able to drive accountability and navigate conflicts constructively Prior experience working with or coordinating EPCM/design-build contractors Background in manufacturing equipment, utilities (WFI, HVAC, Clean Steam), or process systems Knowledge of turnover systems and integration with commissioning teams Additional Information
