Senior Tax Accountant, Direct Tax
The Senior Tax Accountant, Direct Tax supports the Director, Tax and related initiatives. This role manages income tax obligations and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, working across multiple business units and functions including Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, IT and Accounting. Ideal candidate:
has expertise in accounting and taxation to ensure financial integrity and compliance of the organization and can collaborate across functions. Essential Functions & Requirements
Prioritize health and safety by adhering to policies and maintaining safe practices at all times Collaborate with external tax consultants on preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns Prepare and process federal, state, and local quarterly estimated income tax payments Respond to direct tax notices and resolve them in a timely manner Assist the Director, Tax with the preparation of the annual tax provision Assist the Director, Tax with direct tax audits by the IRS and state/local authorities Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for direct tax-related accounts and propose correcting journal entries Maintain tax entity organization charts and filing calendar for accuracy; ensure compliance with changing tax laws and regulations Perform tax research related to direct taxation and assess impact to the organization, identifying tax-planning opportunities Take on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization Education
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field (required) CPA Certification (preferred) Experience
5+ years of experience in tax accounting (required) Strong understanding of GAAP and ASC 740 (required) Strong proficiency in and experience using ONESOURCE Tax Provision (preferred) Previous experience with Oracle PeopleSoft Financials (preferred) Competencies
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence project outcomes Ability to interpret local, state, and federal tax law as it pertains to organizational operations Ability to meet external tax return deadlines and internal accounting deadlines Collaborative with cross-functional teams Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel Understanding of data architecture and analytical tools (e.g., Oracle EPM, MS Power BI) Hands-on, proactive problem-solving mindset Ability to work in a team and foster trust within the tax department Ability to work independently and be accountable for contributions Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external stakeholders Regular and predictable attendance Benefits, Compensation, & Workforce Diversity:
