ORAU
Overview
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. Observations at far-infrared/submillimeter wavelengths play a critical role in our understanding of star formation and the life cycle of gas in the interstellar medium, and continued development of detectors and instruments is required to fully exploit this part of the spectrum. A postdoctoral fellow is sought to work with C. Darren Dowell and collaborators to work on the development of far-IR/submm instrumentation and on related astrophysics. Immediate opportunities include work on SOFIA instrumentation (HAWC+) and polarimetry of the interstellar medium, Kinetic Inductance Detectors for far-IR/submm wavelengths, and the Cerro Chajnator Atacama Telescope.
