The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is accepting applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of Sociology with a focus on criminology to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate should have an active research agenda that takes a sociological approach to crime, law, and/or social control. Secondary interests that complement other departmental strengths, including race, family, (im)migration, or the environment would be particularly welcome. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in sociology or related field by the start date, a strong record of research and publications that demonstrates potential for extramural funding, skills in theory and qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, and a clear commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students. The standard teaching load is two courses per semester. Other Responsibilities

Applicant must have a PhD in Sociology or related field. Applicant must demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence, strong research and publication skill, and future research productivity. Other Required Qualifications

The ability to carry out an original research agenda related to crime, law, and/or social control. Strong commitment to teaching and mentoring. Preferred Qualifications
