Overview

Postdoctoral Scientist – Bonda Lab, Department of Neurosurgery, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The Bonda Lab investigates single neuron and network-level dynamics governing volitional control over reflexive and higher-order behavior. Under the mentorship of Dr. David Bonda, the role focuses on developing a mechanistic understanding of human cognition through intracranial recordings in humans and advanced computational analyses. The Postdoctoral Scientist will work closely with postdoctoral scholars, graduate and undergraduate students, research associates, and collaborators to perform systems neuroscience research, applying intracranial recordings and computational methods to study learning, memory, and decision making. Responsibilities include data analysis, manuscript preparation, and potentially grant proposal support. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Keeps appropriate experimental records and documentation and analyzes results with the Principal Investigator. Operates and maintains equipment and instruments. May design and perform experiments. Analyzes, interprets, summarizes, and compiles data. May observe MD-patient or MD-human research subject interactions as it pertains directly to the research. Department-Specific Information

Designs and performs human intracranial electrophysiology experiments. Designs, implements, and uses computational techniques to process and analyze electrophysiological and behavioral data. Uses programming languages (MATLAB and Python) to implement analysis procedures and interpret results. Develops, implements, and extends complex data analysis programs to derive biological insights from electrophysiological datasets. Develops, implements, and continuously improves behavioral experiments. Interacts respectfully and efficiently with patients, caregivers, and hospital clinical staff. Qualifications

Education

Doctorate degree in a field directly related to the research specialization. Recent Ph.D. graduates in Neuroscience or a related field are strongly preferred. Experience and Skills

Works independently on research projects under the mentor's guidance. Gains technical and theoretical knowledge over 1–5 years post-doctoral appointment. Strong computational, programming (MATLAB and Python), data analysis, statistics, and electrophysiology skills are essential. Knowledge of cognitive neuroscience literature is essential. Prior experience with human scalp or intracranial EEG or animal intracranial electrophysiology is preferred. A proven track record of first-author publications is required. About Us
